Centerstage Discovery Ages 4-6      Enrollment Limited to 15 per session

Centerstage Discovery is a fun, active introduction to creative drama for your child. Taught by a theatre-education specialist, each Saturday morning will include drama games, activities, songs and crafts based on a seasonal theme.

At the end of each class, there will be a short “sharing session” for parents!

Centerstage Discovery Ages 7-11

Does your child love charades, role-playing and acting out stories? We're thrilled to be offering a series of three fun-filled Saturday afternoons, each one with a seasonal theme. We'll play theatre games, work on a craft and improvise skits. These classes will be taught by theatre-education specialists. At the end of each class, there will be a short “sharing session” for parents!

Mini Musicals! Ages 10 - 18

Join us for a fast-paced, fun-filled performance experience! We'll cast, rehearse and perform a 20 minute version of a famous musical in just one day! This is a great introduction to acting, music theatre and the collaboration of putting on a popular musical! At the end of the day, family and friends are invited to see the show!

Master Class Series

Master Classes are $45 each or $200 for all five classes (a $25 discount).

Music Theatre Audition! 11/6, 6:00 – 8:30pm Fee $45 Enrollment limit: 30

Open to music theatre students of all abilities, students learn tips and insights from working music theatre professionals. We'll cover topics such as audition etiquetee, choosing audition songs and working with your accompanist. As a special bonus, we'll include our Mistakes Actors Make: five infamous steps to blowing an audition!

Lights! Camera! Audition! 11/13, 6:00-8:30pm Fee $45 Enrollment limit: 30

Learn the basics of auditioning in for films and television. Taught by a leading casting professional, BCT is proud to offer this unique opportunity for young actors to explore the film & television medium.

Just For Fun: Improvisation! 12/4, 6:00 – 8:30pm Fee $45 Enrollment limit: 30

Ever wonder how the pros think so quickly on their feet? Join BCT's talented faculty for a workshop on the ins and outs of improvisational comedy. We'll cover all the basics of improv theatre in this laugh-a-minute experience!

College Prep Class , 10/23, 6:00 – 8:30 Fee $45 Enrollment limit: 30

Open to students AND parents, this master class is offered for those interested in pursuing a career in the performing arts.  What schools are best for you?  What are scholarship committees looking for?  How can you improve your chances of acceptance?  Taught by Burgess Clark, Daniel Blake, Toby Schine and other theatre professionals, this class is designed to take the mystery out of the daunting task of choosing a future that's right for YOU.  Monologue choices, song choices (if applicable) and how to not just survive, but triumph at the dreaded interview are all covered in this in-depth opportunity to understand the college application process.

In 2008, the new BCT team got all twelve of their graduating seniors into the colleges of their choice!  If you are interested in pursuing the performing arts, this master class is a prepatory must!

PLEASE NOTE:  College Prep Class is especially helpful when taken in conjunction with at least one of the BCT Studios.

PRIVATE PROFESSIONAL INSTRUCTION IN VOICE AND ACTING*

VOICE LESSONS with Daniel Blake : $70/hr. Private voice lessons are tailored to the individual needs and goals of each student. Lessons focus on developing technique, discipline and repertoire suited to each student. A BCT Special Guest Artist, Daniel's students have been accepted to the nations top music theatre and vocal programs Ideal for pre-college prep!

Daniel Blake has 28 opera and musical theater roles to his professional credit and has sung throughout the United States including New York City , Seattle , Minnesota , Connecticut , Utah , Philadelphia , El Paso , and Lake George Opera Companies. His musical theatre credits include Perelli from Sweeney Todd , Schroder from You're a Good Man , Charlie Brown and Patrick from the national tour of Mame . Daniel recived his Bachelor of Music Degree from Washington State University, Masters of Music Degree from Hartt Conservatory of Music in Connecticut, and did post-graduate studies at Julliard School of Music in New York City where he studied with Enrico DiGiuseppe and coached with Joan Dorneman of the Metropolitan Opera. Daniel has performed numerous times as a soloist at Carnegie Hall, Avery Fisher Hall and Lincoln Center and was the tenor soloist at Trinity Episcopal Church in New York City .

ACTING LESSONS with Toby Schine . $70/hr Acting lessons are tailored to the needs and goals of each student. Toby specializes in preparing auditions for theatre, film and college auditions. Toby has worked as a director, teacher, and actor. His private students have gained acceptance and merit scholarships to leading training programs such as NYU-Tish, Carnegie Mellon, CCM, University of Michigan , Boston Conservatory, Emerson and the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art in London . Toby's students also work consistently theatre and film. Toby holds a B.A. in Theatre and Literature from Reed College and has studied at the British American Dramatic Academy . Ideal for college prep!

*The rate for private studios is $70/hr or $675 for 10 lessons (a $25 discount). Please note that scholarships and special offers are not applicable to private studios.

The New BCT Show Choir!

Auditions will be held again in the Winter/Spring 2009 for the NEW BOSTON CHILDREN'S THEATRE SHOW CHOIR! Open to ages 10-18, and conducted by BCT Guest Artist Daniel Blake, this uniquely dynamic opportunity will feature the very best of music, comedy and dance performance. The NEW BCT SHOW CHOIR will act as Boston Children's Theatre ambassadors in the greater Boston community, performing at public and private events, with all fees & proceeds going to the BCT Scholarship Fund. Rehearsals: Saturdays from 1-3:00 Fee: $100 per semester. AUDITION REQUIRED.

Advanced Acting – The Actor's Process with Burgess Clark, Saturdays 10:00 – 12:30pm, ages 14-18 Enrollment limit: 25

10/11, 10/18, 10/25, 11/1, 11/8, 11/15, 11/29, 12/6 Fee. $275

What makes each actor unique?  By popular demand, Burgess Clark will be offering this advanced course open to all students interested in the craft of acting 'from the inside out'. Inner monologue, technique, and emotional truth are all explored in detail.  A special emphasis is focused on discovering and focusing each individuals' dramatic voice and talents.  Perfect for the emerging actor!

Acting Shakespeare with Toby Schine – Saturdays 1:00 – 3:00pm, ages 14 - 18 9/27, 10/4, 10/11, 10/18, 10/25, 11/1, 11/8, 11/15 Fee. $275 Enrollment limit: 20

This class is open to all students interested in Shakespeare. Instructor Toby Schine trained in London and has taught and acted Shakespeare for over 10 years. Focusing on text, voice, and movement, each student will work on a monologue and a scene for a final presentation. Some previous acting

experience is recommended. If you have any questions regarding this class, please feel free to contact Toby directly.

The Playwrights Process with Burgess Clark, Tuesdays, 6:00 – 8:00, ages 14 to adult 10/7,14,21,28, 11/4,11,18, 12/2    Fee. $275 Enrollment limit: 10

Open to all playwrights ages 14-Adult, Clark focuses on discovering the individual playwright's voice.  Exercises in character, dialogue and plot are all explored.  A professional playwright for over 25 years, Clark has taught playwriting for the Kennedy Center in Washington D.C. as well as numerous university and adult classes.  He has numerous successful plays to his credit.  Please note that playwrights of ALL ages are welcome--including adults that may be interested in writing for children.   Clark 's students have won the National Young Playwright's Award five times!

Music Theatre Songs & Scenes – Saturday 3:00 – 5:00, ages 13 - 18 with Daniel Blake 9/27, 10/4,11,18,25, 11/1,8,15 Fee. $275 Enrollment limit: 25

The BCT Academy is very pleased to welcome Daniel Blake as a guest instructor for one of his most popular classes! This class is open to all levels of music theatre student. Each student will be assigned scenes and songs from the Broadway canon to hone their music theatre performance skills. The class concludes in a showcase presentation for family and friends!

Are you interested in acting and are looking for somewhere to begin? This is it! This class is for the beginning actor. Exercises will focus on improvising as an ensemble and developing voice and movement skills. There is no better way to get started in acting than with BCT's exceptional instruction!
